School of Public Policy alum Luke Lindberg BA ’11, MPP/MBA ’13 appeared before the U.S. Senate this week for his confirmation hearing following his nomination to serve as under secretary for trade and foreign agricultural affairs in the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

If confirmed, Lindberg will oversee the nation’s agricultural trade policy and negotiations, playing a critical role in expanding international markets for American farmers and ranchers.

Lindberg, who currently serves as president and CEO of South Dakota Trade and held several international trade policy roles in Washington, D.C., emphasized his commitment to promoting fair and open markets for U.S. agriculture during his testimony.

The Senate is expected to vote on Lindberg’s confirmation in the coming weeks.
